Prof.  S.C. Ray elected as Council Member of the Mining, Geological and Metallurgical Institute of India, Session: 1997-98, 1998-99 and 1999-2000.
 

Prof. S. K. Mukhopadhyay has been awarded the prestigious  John Dunn Medal for the year 1998 - 1999 for his outstanding contribution in the Indian Metalliferous Mineral Industries by the Mining, Geological and Metallurgical Institute of India.

Prof. S. K. Mukhopadhyay has been awarded the prestigious Dr. D N. Thakur Award for the year 1999-2000, for his outstanding contribution in the Field of Mining Engineering by the Mining, Geological and Metallurgical Institute of India.
 

Dr. A. Bhattacharjee nominated as a Member of the Research Council of ISM during September 1997 to August 1999.
 

Dr. A. Bhattacharjee received an honorary appointment as a Board Member of the American Biographical Institutes "Research Board of Advisors" from 1998.
 
 

Dr. Jayanta Bhattaterjee has been selected for a 3 year term as the Executive Council Member of Mining, Geological and Metallurgical Institute of India, Calcutta.
 
 

Dr. Jayanta Bhattacharya has been invited to be a Member of the Technical Committee in the International Symposium on "Clean Coal Initiatives" to be held during 22nd-24th Jan., 1999 at New Delhi.
 
 

Dr. S.K. Das received MGMI Bronze Medal for the year 1996-97 for the research paper entitled, "A new approach and realistic mathematical model for the determination of capacity of powered roof supports".
 
 

Dr. S.K. Das received IE(I) certificate of merit for the year 1997-98 for the research paper titled, "Roof strata behaviour aid determination of the capacity of powered roof supports in thin seam Longwall".
 

Prof. S. K. Mukhopadhyay had been an assessor of NRDC prize award for 1996 - 1999 in mining. He has been nominated as a member of the editorial board of MGMI publications for the year 1998 - 2001. He is serving as Reviewer of technical papers for publication in the Transaction of MGMI, since 1998.

Prof. S. K. Mukhopadhyay has been elected as All India Council Member of the the Mining, Geological and Metallurgical Institute of India for the years 1997 -2000, 2000-2003.
