Technology and Management for Sustainable Exploitation of

Minerals and Natural Resources (TAMSEM)

Kharagpur, India

5-7th Feb,2004

BROCHURE

The resounding success of TMMPE’2000 encouraged us to organize the international seminar again in the year 2004 and this time again in Kharagpur. There is an indication in the air that the recessive cycle for minerals’ demand is blown over. The gold and base metals prices are picking up globally. The outlook for the fuel minerals is affirmative. What is more significant at this time is that there is positive rethinking globally on the considerations of mining investment with the minerals again gaining ground as strategic materials. So it is the opportune time when we must call upon all professionals, academicians and administrators to deliberate upon their technical and managerial expertise in the field of sustainable exploitation of mineral resources.  In perspective, this conference will help assembling building blocks on the strong foundations based on past experiences and will show us the way for the sustainable development of mineral deposit and the natural resources for the future.

Today, sustainable development and management of mineral sector is not only a buzz word but has become a new way of decision and policy making mechanism.  It is now imperative to develop indicators which may be used to assess sustainable development qualitatively as well as quantitatively.  In this regard, this conference will throw lights on various developments around the World and formulate the strategies for further research and development.
